When reading Pauline Edwards’ book, a memory was triggered for me; the memory of being the only speaking dwarf in a reception class production (over 60 years ago) in Saint Michael’s R.C. Primary School, Esh Laude, County Durham.
The second memory that surfaced was of playing the part of Alladin in a school production the following year, and I found myself asking the question: “What happened to the little boy; what happened to the little Kevin who as a small child was full of confidence?” and needing answers to that question, I booked a place on a Littleway Healing of Memories Course; and where that course led me, was to places beyond my imagination.
During the Healing of Memories Prayer, I was led to my safe place growing up as a child; that safe place for me was the old carpenters shop at Ushaw Home Farm.
A place for me where the seeds to my Priestly Vocation were sown; a place where nothing was discarded or thrown away, and where things were repurposed… a place of Anointing.
During the Healing of Memories Prayer. I was also invited to see myself as a child, and then I was guided through a prayer experience, where I had a real, and living encounter with Jesus. A prayer experience that brought many hidden memories to surface that had been long buried, and were crying out for healing.
Within the prayer time, I had a ‘Burning Bush’ experience; It was as though I was in a fire, but neither burnt nor consumed by the flames. Coming out of prayer, I found myself singing “Refiners Fire That Is My Desire To Be Holy Set Apart For You My Master, Ready To Do Your Will.”
The carpenters shop was a childhood place, where I believe the seeds of my vocation to Priesthood were sown, and within the Healing of Memories Prayer… further seeds were sown.
Over thirty years ago, I answered that call; thirty plus years down the line, I found myself answering a deeper call to Minister with the Littleway Healing Ministries.
I recognise how I have been changed and transformed as a person, through my Littleway encounters, and I have also witnessed how lives have been changed for others.
